About Us Elite Fence of Columbus
About Elite Fence: Trusted Columbus Fence Contractors Since Day One
Elite Fence has been installing residential and commercial fences across Columbus and Central Ohio since 2000. Over the past 25 years, we've completed more than 2,500 fence installations, earning an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, and building relationships with homeowners, businesses, and property managers throughout the region. This About Us Elite Fence page tells you who we are, how we got started, and why Central Ohio customers trust us with their fencing projects.
Our Story: How Elite Fence Started in Columbus
Bryan Critser started Elite Fence in 2000. He was already running Outdoor-Fx and Pool-Fx, working with residential and commercial clients on landscaping and pool projects. Through that work, he kept hearing the same frustrations from property owners. They couldn't find fence companies that offered quality materials, knew how to match the right fence to the property, or followed through on their promises. Most companies showed up, installed whatever fence the customer asked for, and left. There wasn't much guidance, and the results often reflected that.
Bryan saw an opportunity to do it differently. He built Elite Fence around three core principles: offering a wider selection of quality materials, helping customers choose the right fence for their specific property, and installing it correctly the first time. That approach worked. Word spread through Columbus and the surrounding communities, and the business grew steadily from residential jobs to larger commercial projects.
Twenty-five years later, we've installed fences on thousands of properties across Central Ohio. Our team has worked on everything from backyard privacy fences in Dublin to commercial security fencing for businesses in downtown Columbus. We've handled custom projects ranging from decorative aluminum to heavy-duty steel installations. The projects vary, but the standards haven't changed. We still focus on the same principles Bryan set in 2000.
The Elite Fence Team and Experience
Our installation team brings over 60 years of combined know-how to every project. Our installers have seen how different fence types hold up through Central Ohio winters and what happens when posts aren't set deep enough in clay soil. They know how to adjust installation methods for sloped yards or properties with drainage issues. They've worked through problems that only show up after you've installed hundreds of fences.
We handle both residential and commercial fencing, which requires different skill sets. For example, we know that a homeowner's vinyl privacy fence needs clean lines and gates that stay level for years. On the other hand, a commercial chain-link installation for a warehouse needs to meet security specifications and handle high traffic. Our crew understands those distinctions because they've done both types of work repeatedly across Columbus.
The practical knowledge shows up on job sites. Our installers know when a customer needs a taller fence to meet pool code requirements, when tree roots will interfere with post placement, and how to run a fence line on a property with easements or setback restrictions. They can verify property lines before installation and spot potential issues during the site visit instead of discovering them halfway through the project.
We also regularly work with HOA boards on fence approvals in neighborhoods with strict design guidelines. For example, some Dublin subdivisions require specific vinyl colors or rail heights to maintain visual consistency and curb appeal. Our team knows how to navigate those requirements upfront, which saves customers time and prevents project delays from noncompliant installations.
Our Certifications, Memberships & Manufacturer Partnerships
Credentials matter in the fencing industry because they show a contractor's commitment to professional standards and access to quality fencing materials. Elite Fence maintains active memberships in multiple trade organizations and works directly with leading fence manufacturers. These partnerships give us access to premium materials, technical support, and ongoing training that keeps our team current on installation methods and product developments.
Industry Memberships and Certifications
We hold memberships and certifications with several professional organizations in construction, landscaping, and trade industries:
- Columbus City Licensed General Contractor (insurance, bonding, business practice standards)
- Building Industry Association (BIA)
- Columbus Landscape Association
- A+ Better Business Bureau rating
- Dublin Chamber of Commerce
- Professional Horticultural Trade Association (PHTA)
- Nursery Dealer Certification (Ohio Department of Agriculture)
These memberships keep us connected to industry standards and local business networks across Central Ohio.
Manufacturer Partnerships
Elite Fence carries products from established manufacturers known for producing durable fencing products:
- Vinyl fencing: Bufftech and Catalyst (recognized for performance in Ohio weather conditions)
- Aluminum and steel fencing: Catalyst and Ameristar (commercial-grade strength and corrosion resistance)
These partnerships give us access to warranty support, product training, and a consistent supply of materials. When we recommend a specific fence type or material, we're drawing on direct knowledge of how these products perform over time and what kind of maintenance they require.
Recognition & Awards
Elite Fence received the Westbury Award for Best Rail Installation a few years ago. Westbury is one of the premium vinyl railing manufacturers we work with, and they selected our installation based on craftsmanship and attention to detail. This kind of recognition from a manufacturer comes from consistent quality work, not just one standout project.
We don't chase awards or collect plaques to hang in the office. What matters more to us is the repeat business we get from customers who call us back for additional fencing projects or refer us to their neighbors. That said, manufacturer recognition like the Westbury award confirms we're meeting the installation standards that matter in the industry.
